Fat freezing side effects

Most people leave with a red, numb pocket and go back to their day. The effects below are typical and temporary. The rarer ones are discussed at your assessment, in the room, before anyone is booked.

What most people feel

These are the effects I see week in, week out. None of them is a reason to stay home.

Redness and firmness

The treated pocket looks flushed and can feel firm for a few hours, sometimes a day or two. That is the area recovering from the cold, not a burn in the everyday sense.

Numbness and tingling

Most people describe an intense cold at the start, then numbness. Sensation usually returns over days to a couple of weeks. It can feel odd. It is expected.

Tenderness and swelling

The area can be tender to the touch, slightly swollen, or bruised, in the same way a firm pinch would be. Clothes still go on. You can go back to work the same day.

The less common questions

I would rather you read this here than find a scare story and have no one to ask.

Is there any downtime?
No recovery period. You can return to work and normal life the same day. The temporary redness or sensitivity is not a reason to take time off.
Does fat freezing hurt?
Most clients describe a firm pull and an intense cold at the start, then numbness as the area freezes. It is pain-free for most people. If an area is not suitable, I will not treat it.
What is paradoxical adipose hyperplasia?
A rare response where the treated pocket increases rather than reduces. I mention it because an honest consent conversation includes it. I do not quote incidence figures I cannot stand behind. If it were relevant to your case after treatment, we would deal with it as part of your review, not leave you to search for it.
Who should not have the treatment?
People who need to lose a significant amount of weight, areas of loose skin with little fat beneath, and some medical conditions. The health question on the form exists so I can tell you if the treatment is not appropriate. That is a better outcome than booking you anyway.

This page is general information about a typical session at this clinic, not a substitute for a medical history. Suitability is confirmed at your free assessment. Results vary between individuals.

Ask the question that is actually worrying you.

Send a photograph. I will tell you if the treatment is appropriate, including if it is not.
